Job Summary: The Part-Time Physical Therapist’s role is to assess patients, design, implement/treat and re-evaluate a patient’s plan of care. Each plan of care is created to increase, maintain, or restore function, minimize, or prevent disability, and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels.
 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing interpretation of prescriptions, performing an initial evaluation, and establishing a treatment plan with functional and short-/long term goals

  • Appropriately progressing the treatment and goals

  • Periodic and timely written communication to referring providers

  • Appropriate discharge management and patient follow‐up

  • Supervision of rehabilitation aides and administrative staff as needed

  • Supervision of PTAs when applicable per the Illinois state practice act

  • Responsible for documenting all treatments and completing all written communications in a timely manner, including but not limited to, initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, daily S.O.A.P. notes, functional status reports, functional capacity evaluations (if qualified) and insurance/plan of care forms as necessary

  • Responsible for establishing and developing professional relationships with River Valley Physical Therapy’s referral sources including, but not limited to, physicians, PAs, ARNPs, chiropractors, case managers, etc.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain state license

  • Maintain CPR certification

  • Complete all required CEU’s as required by the state of Illinois per licensing period and compliance training as required by the practice

  • Provides occasional community services, such as hosting a booth at a health-related fair or presenting an in‐service on orthopedic injuries or prevention

  • Performing complimentary screenings to the public

  • Marketing: schedules occasional physician office visits – to inform physicians and staff of our services, locations, quality patient care and philosophy to be the best provider

  • Accompanying patients to their physician visits (patient visits)

  • Provide staff in‐services, community in‐services, attendance at continuing education courses, and provide follow‐up summary of all continuing education courses to staff members

  • Adhere to the APTA Code of Ethics

Expectations:

  • Provides exceptional patient care and service

  • Energetic and a team player

  • Ability to demonstrate compassion toward patients

  • Service oriented

  • Available to accommodate a work schedule including 2 early shifts (start at 7:30am) s and 2 late shifts (ending at 7:00 pm)

  • Available to work occasional Saturday mornings (once per month)

  • Covers patients when colleagues are off

 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program

  • Current professional licensure as a Physical Therapist

  • Current CPR Certification

  • At least three years of relevant experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy

  • McKenzie (MDT) certification or working toward certification preferred

  • Strong manual therapy skills required (certification, post-grad course work preferred)

  • OCS certification or studying for OCS exam preferred
